What will not change?
This change will not impact any of the Box functionality you currently use, for example:
- Inviting collaborators
- Sharing files and folders via links
- How external collaborators log into Box
- Sharing content with external collaborators
- Access to the Box mobile application
- 3rd party application integrations

We are working to make application access quicker, easier, and more secure. As a key benefit of this change, after logging in once through Midway you will be able to access all Midway integrated applications for the rest of the day without having to login again.
Box Login Experience FAQs
You will navigate to Box using the same URLs, links, and bookmarks you currently use, but instead of signing in through the current Box sign-in portal you will be redirected to a new two-step login process that is outlined here.
1. How will this change the way we work?
This change will affect how you access and sign into Box in two ways:
-
- When accessing the application, you will be redirected to Okta/Midway to authenticate. Instead of using the credentials you used previously to access Box, you will need to use your Amazon Email and Midway PIN and Token to sign in if you haven’t already authenticated through Midway that day.
- In addition to how you currently access Box, you will also be able to login via your Okta Dashboard. By selecting the Studios Box tile on your Okta Dashboard, you will be redirected and logged into your account.
2. What are the benefits of this change?
-
- Making Access Easier: As a key benefit, you will not be required to re-authenticate for the next 8 hours after your initial sign-in. Once you have signed in, you will be able to access Box or any other Okta/Midway integrated applications without having to sign-in again for the remainder of the day. If you access a document or folder saved as a bookmark and you have already authenticated through Okta/Midway, you will bypass all the login screens and be redirected to your document or folder signed in.
- Improved Security: The new login experience enhances Amazon Studios security posture helping to further protect your accounts.
3. How do I access the Box Mobile Application?
Box Mobile access will continue to be supported for both iOS and Android. Internal users will need to have Amazon Enterprise Access (AEA) set up on their mobile device to be able to access and log into the Box mobile application following this change. If you have not set up AEA on your mobile device, visit the link here for instructions.
4. How do I reset my Midway PIN?
After the change, you will no longer use your Box Account credentials to login. Instead, you will use your Midway PIN and Token. In the case you need to reset your Midway PIN please reach out to IT Services for support.
5. What should I do if Okta doesn’t redirect me to Midway?
After entering your email in the Okta page, if you are not redirected to the Midway screen to login, please check that you are using the correct amazon email. If you enter in an email that is not @amazon.com or @amazonstudios.com you will not be redirected to Midway to sign in.
6. What should I do if I am not able to authenticate with Midway?
-
- Double check that you are using the correct username. To sign in through Midway, use your Amazon alias (the first part of your email before the @ sign).
- Be sure you are using your security PIN and not your amazon password. Your password is a regular string used to log into your laptop and general internal Amazon webpages. Your Security PIN is a different string from your password. After entering your PIN you will be prompted to enter your Token which is another string generated by touching your physical security key. If the issue persists, please reach out to IT Services for support.
7. What if I get locked out of my Box/Midway account?
With this change, you will not be able to locked yourself out of your Box account unless you lock yourself out of Midway. If you lock yourself out of Midway please submit a ticket to IT Services.
8. What if I get an error saying “User is not assigned to this application”?
Reach out to the Support Desk.
9. My Box account is deactivated, what do I do?

10. How will service accounts authenticate?
-

- New Login Experience: You will log into a Box service account by accessing Box as you would normally. You may have to sign out if you are automatically signed in. When you are prompted to enter an email, you will need to enter your Box service account email. You will not be redirected to Midway like you would for your personal account, but rather Okta will prompt you again for a password. Enter your Box Group account password and you will be signed into your Group account.
11. How will I log into a Box group account?
-
- New Password: Group accounts will need to be provided with new passwords to access Box through the new login process. If you are the owner of a group account please reach out to the Support Desk to let us know what group account you own.
