Purpose: Help Rightsline users with frequently asked questions relating to access and troubleshooting access-related issues. Prerequisite: Rightsline users with active accounts for troubleshooting access-related issues. Audience: Existing Rightsline users with active accounts or those seeking access. |
1. Overview
The Amazon Studios implementation of the third-party tool Rightsline, Division 46 which is managed by the Legal Operations team, is the centralized hub for cross team coordination, and contract and rights management for all Amazon and IMDbTV original content.
Beginning at deal request, through to greenlight and beyond, Rightsline serves as a central repository for project information, essential deal terms, and Amazon’s rights to exploit each title across media, territory and language. The system integrates with other Amazon tools, including StudiosApps, to drive downstream processes and simplify workflows across the lifecycle of Amazon Studios and IMDbTV titles.
2. Getting access to Rightsline
An active account is required to use Rightsline. To get started, Amazonians, Outside Counsel and Coverage Readers should submit an Access Request through the Amazon Studios Technology Support Desk (see below). Once submitted, the Studios Technology team will review your request within 2 hours.
Once your account is created in Rightsline, and access is granted through your Originals Access account, you will be able to log on to Rightsline using Single Sign On.
There are a couple of instances where you may not be able to access Rightsline. How to identify what problem you are experiencing, and how to fix it are detailed below.
3. Troubleshooting Your Access
- Verify you have submitted an Access Request to the Studios Technology team, and that they have completed your request.
- Once the Studios Technology team has granted your Access Request, you will see a ‘Rightsline (Production)’ tile in your Originals Access account.
- If you don’t get a confirmation email, verify your Access Request by navigating to the Originals Access page, and login using your Amazon email address.
- If you are not authenticated through Midway, you’ll be prompted to login with your corporate credentials.
- Select the ‘Rightsline (Production)’ tile, and you will be directed to the Rightsline (Production) environment.
4. Everything That Could Possibly Go Wrong
I’m having issues logging into Originals Access.
If you cannot login to Originals Access with your Amazon email address, click on the Need help signing in? link below the Username and Password field to troubleshoot your login.
If you still cannot access your Originals Access account after you complete these troubleshooting steps, submit a Support Request here.
I previously had access to Rightsline, but now I can’t login.
Amazon Studios pays a monthly fee per licensed user to access Rightsline. In order to exercise frugality, accounts and licenses will be deactivated for anyone who has not logged into Rightsline within the last 90 days. This manual review will be completed towards the end of the month and at this time no notification is provided to users.
If you have had your Rightsline license deactivated and still need access to Rightsline, follow the steps above to submit a reactivation Request to the Studios Technology team. Once submitted, the Studios Technology team will review your request within 2 hours.
When I try and log in to Rightsline I get a “No Login Options Available” message.
In this instance, an account has not been created for you and a license is yet to be assigned in Rightsline. You can submit an Access Request to the Studios Technology team who will create your account.
There is no ‘Rightsline (Production)’ tile in my Originals Access account.
If you do not see the Rightsline (Production) tile in your Originals Access account, fill out this Support Request to the Studios Tech team, selecting the following fields:
Rightsline Request Type
Rightsline Access Troubleshooting
Suggested Description
“Hi there,
I have requested access to Rightsline, but cannot see the Rightsline (Production) tile on my Originals Access account. Can you please help me?
Thanks“
I selected the ‘Rightsline (Production)’ tile in Originals Access but I get a ‘No User Found’ error.
After you have selected the Rightsline (Production) tile in your Originals Access account, if you are presented with a ‘No User Found’ error on the Rightsline website, there is a problem with your Rightsline account (either your account has been deleted and needs to be reinstated, or your contact credentials in Okta and Rightsline do not match).
Fill out this support request to the Studios Tech team, selecting the following fields:
Rightsline Request Type
Rightsline Access Troubleshooting
Suggested Description
“Hi there,
When trying to access the Rightsline (Production) by selecting the tile on my Originals Access account, I am presented with a ‘No User Found’ error. Can you please confirm my information in my Contact Record in Rightsline matches the information associated to the Rightsline app in Okta?
Thanks“
I can access Rightsline, but it’s very slow.
Rightsline receives new releases in the Production environment every month which are developed over two two-week development sprints. Two weeks prior to the Production release, the release candidate is deployed into the Staging and Integration environments for the purposes of UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
During this deployments it’s possible that you may experience performance issues in Rightsline. To verify whether your use of Rightsline is being impacted by a release, check the Release Calendar here: https://rightsline.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4414908895387-Monthly-Release-Rebaseline-Calendar
