Purpose: Help troubleshoot Aspera download and upload speed issues. When uploading or downloading is taking longer than expected. Prerequisites: Access to Aspera and having issues downloading or uploading. Audience: Aspera Users. |
If you are downloading or uploading packages to Aspera and are having issues with your internet and long wait hours than expected, please follow the below steps to set transfer speed limits.
1. Know your internet speed
1. To check your internet speed, use the below speed test website. (There are many other websites that can provide similar information)
2. Once you have your speed information, like below.
3. Depending on your internet speed test results use the below to adjust your settings in aspera.
If your Download is 240Mbps, set the limit to around 200Mbps.
If your Upload is 35Mbps, set the limit to around 20/25Mbps.
Please Note: You can adjust the number to be higher if you want but its good idea to leave some room for other networking activities so try no to use all of the download/upload Mbps solely for Aspera application.
2. How to Set the speed limit on Aspera connect
1. Open Aspera Connect Preferences via Menu bar > Aspera Connect > Preferences.
2. Click on the Bandwidth tab.
3. Under the Manual Transfers settings, tick both the "Downloads" and "Uploads" option as shown below.
4. Change the limit values to match your own internet speed (Refer to step 3 of Know your internet speed) and click on OK to save the setting.
Please Note: If you change location such as from home to office or vice versa, please do check and change the above settings to match the new environment with new internet connection.
5. Start a new download or upload and monitor the process. If you still have any technical issues, contact us for support by submit a ticket here or emailing us at support@amazonstudios.com.
