What is IBM Aspera on Cloud?
Aspera on Cloud is IBM's on-demand SaaS offering for global content transfer and exchange. The service enables organizations to move large files and data sets – securely and reliably – across on-premises and multi-cloud environments at unrivaled speed. -
What is a transfer?
A transfer moves files and folders from one storage location to another (examples of storage locations include your own local machine, a remote server, public or private cloud storage). -
What is a package?
In the Packages app, a package (also called a digital package) is a collection of digital assets (files, folders, video, images, etc.) that you gather to send to one or more individuals or user groups, or to an Aspera on Cloud shared inbox. When you send a package, Aspera on Cloud creates copies of the content you attach for each recipient; the source content remains unchanged. -
Applications: Overview
An Aspera on Cloud application is a self-contained service with its own memberships and configuration settings. -
What is a workspace?
The workspace is a collection of Aspera on Cloud users working together—on a project perhaps, or in a department or division. Users in a given workspace can freely collaborate with other members of the same workspace. -
What is a shared inbox?
An Aspera on Cloud Packages app shared inbox is an optional workspace feature similar to a drop box: you can send content directly and simultaneously to all members of the shared inbox without having to address it to particular users or user groups. -
What is IBM Aspera Connect?
Aspera on Cloud requires one of two transfer methods to power high-speed transfers between user desktops and Aspera transfer servers. Users can either download and install Aspera Connect, a free, lightweight, install-on-demand software program; or you can configure the IBM Aspera HTTP Gateway and attach it to your Aspera on Cloud organization. -
Should I send or share?
Sending files and folders using the Packages app and sharing folders in your Files app both initiate a FASP (fast, adaptable, secure, predictable) transfer. However, there are important distinctions between sending content and sharing content using Aspera on Cloud. -
